Our Consortium

The Consortium comprises leading institutions in the field of reproductive health research, governance, policy-making and intervention implementation in the UK, Belgium, Tanzania and Niger.

The consortium is led by the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, the first institution in the world dedicated to research and teaching in tropical medicine. The Université Catholique de Louvain is leading the situational analysis, drawing on decades of experience in epidemiological and health systems research in the field of sexual and reproductive health. In Tanzania and Niger, the National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR) and Laboratoire d’Etudes et de Recherches sur les Dynamiques Sociales et le Developpement (LASDEL) respectively are directing the development and implementation of interventions. NIMR has over ten years' experience in the implementation of large scale quantitative research, while LASDEL is a leading anthropological institution specialising in qualitative research methods and strategies to examine the influence of culture on health. Additionally, the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (Tanzania), the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training (Tanzania), the Ministry of Public Health (Niger) and UNFPA (Niger) are also key partners on the project, meaning that the outcome of the research will be genuinely owned by key policy makers, ensuring the impacts of this research extend beyond the life of the project.

Further information on each partner can be found from the links on the Consortium Partners page.
